What a challenging year for CASCADIA! Last spring, we quickly pivoted from a ‘live’ festival to an online one learning in the process how to present our films virtually and host numerous educational discussions, interviews, and panels with our filmmakers. The challenges also brought new opportunities to introduce people worldwide to the work of the festival and films of our women directors.
With the ongoing pandemic, we’ve continued to shine the spotlight on the women directors whose stories might otherwise go overlooked or unseen through special screenings such as the “Children of the Civil Rights” in June; “Inez Milholland: Forward into Light” in August; “Iron Jawed Angels” in October and most recently, the French Short Films last month. We’re planning more for the months ahead.
THANKS TO YOU WE’RE CLOSING IN
Due to the pandemic, we’ve lost critical grant funding that we depend upon to sustain and present the festival. That is why we need your help more than ever this year. Our committed past and current board members stepped up to the challenge and agreed to match 100% of all donations up to $8,000 made to the festival between now and December 31. Thanks to many of you who have already responded we’ve raised $5,000 towards our goal!
