Although our 2018 CASCADIA International Women’s Film Festival is still a few months away, our team is working on all the little details that make it great. We’ve secured almost all of our shorts and many of our features. We’ll be working over the next few months with filmmakers to share sneak peaks of their work with you once we’ve announced our Official Selection 2018 next month.

But there are several ways you can get involved right now. We’ve recently set up a PayPal-based portal to receive donations.

We’re also gathering sponsors for the upcoming festival now. By signing up early as a personal or business sponsor, you’ll receive the benefits of your sponsorship level starting right away, which means more recognition for your business or organization over the next several months.

Fred Meyer Community Rewards Program

Another easy way to support CASCADIA with very little effort is to use your Fred Meyer Rewards card. We have teamed up with the Fred Meyer’s Community Rewards program to be one of the nonprofits you can choose to support with your usual shopping. All you have to do is link your Fred Meyer Rewards Card by using our code 90418 or by searching CASCADIA and we’ll receive your a donation from Fred Meyer every time you shop at no extra cost to you.

Thank you in advance for taking just a minute to help us in this way. Every little bit helps us move toward our mission of supporting and educating women directors and establishing Bellingham, Whatcom County and the Pacific Northwest as a filmmaking and film-viewing destination.

Film Festival Alliance (FFA) at Art House Convergence

This week CASCADIA Executive Director Cheryl Crooks and President Amy MclIvaine attended the Film Festival Alliance (FFA) at Art House Convergence in Midway, UT.  FFA is a professional association, run by festival organizers to serve and advocate for the interests of film festivals, their organizers, and their parent organizations.

It provides a collaborative platform for its more than 100 members to develop and share operational and curatorial efficiency, set professional standards, and establish best practices. We have the privilege of learning from other festivals so that ours will continue to grow and improve each year.

With the belief that film festivals strengthen communities, educate and inspire, nourish minds and spirits and enrich lives we can’t wait to update you with all that Cheryl and Amy have learned at the convergence!

Behind the scenes we’re also working on the beautiful and informative festival program, commemorative merchandise that will be available for purchase, and a host of other details to ensure a stimulating festival experience for all April 12-15, 2018 in Bellingham, WA.

Coming from out of town? Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism’s website is a great centralized location for planning information. Mark your calendar now and start planning your trip for this April.

We at CASCADIA thank you for your continued support. By making women’s voices heard, we can help change the world, one film at a time.
